A new report by payments giant, MasterCard, has shown huge growth in cryptocurrency awareness with 67% of Millenials consenting to their use of cryptocurrency across Africa over the past year.

The MasterCard team in partnership with The Harris poll researched from Feb. 26 to March 10. 2021, The research was conducted across 18 countries around the world and has revealed the increasing and client desire for this recent, fast, and flexible digital experience.

The result of the Mastercard poll has some optimistic undertone, The market research data for cryptocurrency adoption across the globe in Its online survey disclosed how fast the world is coming into the light of crypto with Africa on the lead of this Adoption.

Here are a few results from the report:

The online survey of 15,569 people in 18 countries, (40%) across North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and Africa, and the Asia Pacific says they plan to use cryptocurrency in the next year.

75% of those who filled the survey agreed that they would use cryptocurrency if they understood the concept behind cryptocurrency, while 77% of Millennials are eagerly interested in learning more about cryptocurrency.

More than half (67%) of Millennials in the Middle East, Africa especially are engaged in cryptocurrency-related conversations and are more open to using cryptocurrency than they were a year ago. 

Approximately, 7 in 10 consumers are anticipating using a contactless card this year in the U.S. and Brazil, This contactless perception in two markets combined grew by mainly 3x over one year.

According to the report, 93% of people will consider using at least one emerging payment method, such as cryptocurrency, biometrics, contactless, or QR code, in the next year

About two-thirds of respondents in the survey (63%) agreed that they have tried a new payment method they would not have tried under normal circumstances, but the pandemic has galvanized people to try flexible new payment options

In Q1, 2021 alone, Mastercard has seen nearly 1 billion more contactless transactions compared to what the company records at the same period in 2020, This alone is a unique momentum in emerging contactless demands.

Among the African countries that have embraced cryptocurrency and blockchain technology advancement included in the survey are Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, Ghana, and South Africa.
