The Perpetrators of Dunamiscoin Scam to Appear in Court on Jan 22 2020 for Collecting Money from Investors in Pretense.
Following the Dunamiscoin scam, State Prosecutors said that they have logged over 4,000 complaints against the popular crypto scam in Uganda by Dunamiscoins Resources Limited.
Just after the collapse of the downtown lollipop coin, Samson Lwanga, 37, and Mary Nabunya, 53, both directors of the Dunamiscoin scam appeared before the Law Development Centre court on Monday.
The suspects were charged with 65 counts for falsefully collecting money from investors. The two were accused for luring hundreds of people into the Dunamiscoin Scam. The 65 counts charge was read by the Senior Grade One Magistrate Roselyn Nsenge which is contrary to the Penal Code Act.
According to the State Prosecutors, between February 14, 2018 and December 3, 2019, Lwanga and Nabunya conspired to commit a felony for falsefully collecting money from investors at the New Taxi Park in Kampala district.
The charge claimed that Dunamiscoin falsefully promised her investors huge returns on investment collecting around 500,000 and Shs 140 million. The two suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded in Luzira prison until January 22, 2020 when they will appear in court.
Moreso, the Prosecutors said that they have registered 4,000 complaints concerning the dunamiscoin scam. One of the victims, Haruna Asiimwe, said in an interview they were promised 30 percent interest in 21 days on their investment.
However, he said that they were surprised when the company closed office on December 3, 2019. In a statement issued by the Uganda Police, the directors of the Dunamiscoin scam claim they will refund the money.
They claimed that their major banks accounts including; Centenary bank, Stanbic bank and GT bank were frozen by the Financial Intelligence Authority. They claimed that this is the reasons why they were not able to refund the money.
The two suspects have been in police custody since their arrest on December 3, 2019.
