CBN Deletes Tweet Debunking a Circular Claiming to Prohibit Banks From Facilitating Payment for Crypto Exchanges

The Central Bank of Nigeria has debunked a circular currently circulating about its institution prohibiting Deposit Money Banks, Non-Bank Financial Institutions, Other institutions, and members of the public on the risk associated with transactions in crypto currency.

The fake circular claimed that CBN has tasked and authorised banks to identify account owners engaging in crypto currency related transactions and put such account s on Post No Debit (PND) for 6 months.
