Nigeria and Mozambique are the first two countries in Africa with Starlink regulatory approval; Starlink is now licensed on all seven continents.
The company has been in discussion with NCC virtually over the past several months to begin the process of bringing it to Nigeria.
Led by Ryan Goodnight, SpaceX’s market access director for Africa, and supported by Levin Born, a consultant, the company provided an overview of its plans, expectations, licensing requests and deployment phases at a meeting in Abuja.

With high speeds and latency as low as 20ms in most locations, Starlink enables video calls, online gaming, streaming, and other high data rate activities that historically have not been possible with satellite internet. Users also have the option to take Starlink with them via the Portability feature or Starlink for RVs service.
Starlink is ideally suited for areas where connectivity has been unreliable or completely unavailable. People across the globe are using Starlink to gain access to education, health services and even communications support during natural disasters.
Recently, in Ukraine, Starlink’s technology has found a place where it can prove itself, especially being used in ways other than how it was intended. Throughout its invasion, Russia has consistently attacked Ukrainian communications infrastructure with both military weapons and cyberattacks.
