    An unblemished 101.38 carat diamond was sold at Auction by Sotheby’s for $12.2 million dollars in cryptocurrency, making it the most expensive piece of luxury stone to be traded through cryptocurrency.

    The diamond was sold in Hong Kong to an unidentified collector according to statement released by the auction house, Sotheby’s Auction.

    The auction house noted that payment will be accepted in Bitcoin or Ether.

    Sotheby’s Auction, which has been in the business of auction trade for over 200 years foray into accepting crypto payment started this year, but more significant is the auction house entrance into sell of Non Fungible Token , NFT. The most recent being the a rare CryptoPunk sold in June for over $11.7 million. Named “Covid Alien” CryptoPunk 7523 is a rare NFT, one of the nine “alien punks” and the only one with a mask.

    The buyer was revealed on CNBC news program “Make It” as Shalom Meckenzie, the largest shareholder of DraftKings. Meckenzie has a net worth of $1.6 billion, according to Forbes.
