    A Blockchain monitoring firm Watcher Guru has announced that a hacker stole 4.5k Ethereum said to worth $15 million in latest crypto heist of 2022.

    During the early hours of Monday after users complained about suspicious activity on their accounts, the crypto exchange made an official announcement. With the said development, Crypto.com is now the first major CEX to succumb to a hack this year.

    Report from sources privy to the situation reports that the attack occurred after the attackers found a way to bypass the 2FA security measures on the exchange. This has prompted Crypto.com to alert users to reset their 2FA information, as well as having to log back into the platform to regain access to their accounts.

    Crypto.com has announced on Twitter that it is restricting withdrawal pending the rectification of the situation. The statement reads;

    “Earlier today a small number of users experienced unauthorized activity in their accounts. All funds are safe. In an abundance of caution, security on all accounts is being enhanced, requiring users to: -Sign back into their App & Exchange accounts -Reset their 2FA

    This update will be rolled out to users progressively over the next few hours. Once complete, withdrawals will be re-enabled. We understand this may be an inconvenience, but security comes first. Thank you for your support.”
