This week in cryptocurrency and blockchain in Nigeria and Africa. We saw new developments like the cryptocurrency regulations in Nigeria. Also we saw more measures been created to fight crypto scam in Nigeria.
Blockchain in Nigeria
The deputy senate president of Nigeria talked about financial inclusion using the fourth industrial revolution. He encouraged the use of blockchain in Nigeria to foster bank payments and grow financial payments.
He also encouraged the implementation if AI technology in Nigeria to foster development and accuracy in mobile payments.
He notes that financial payments needs efficient technology to increase and process both online and offline payments.
This calls for the adoption of blockchain in Nigeria to help the government grows it’s digital economy. He commended the central banks on its policies to achieve financial inclusion.
Central Bank of Nigeria’s New Policies
Central bank of Nigeria has released new banking policies and regulations. The apex bank in Nigeria as it announced will be enforcing the new policies and regulations starting from 2020.
One of the best banking policies released is the maximum fee charge of N35 naira for on-remote ATM withdrawals exceeding the three times limit.
This is against the previous N65 naira charged by banks for withdrawals not processed by the bank card issuer. Many other policies was announced in a bid to achieve financial inclusion in Nigeria.
The New Blockchain School in Rwanda.
Africa Blockchain Institute (ABI) has announced it will begin operations in Rwanda in 2020. This will be the first blockchain school to launch in Uganda.
ABI is already operating in Ghana. The school will be offering five courses namely; blockchain essentials certification course, blockchain developers’ course, enterprise blockchain course, blockchain for lawyers and blockchain for impact.
