    The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) is looking to meet international standards in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency in Nigeria. 

    It’s also working on making sure its members and prospective candidates get acquited with the knowledge needed in the field. To ensure its legal  compliance on all required levels.

    The institute is currently reviewing its Banking Professional Examination and Certification Syllabi. And as a result, its reaching out to professionals in the field to help suggest the needed materials. 

    In a confirmation mail that got our interest, the institute is looking to review in eight areas under Fintech. These key areas includes;

    • Fintech Concepts/Strategy.
    • Design Thinking In Financial Services.
    • Blockchain/Cryptocurrency.
    • Data Analytics/ Artificial Intelligence/ Machine 
    • Learning in Finance.
    • Open Banking/ Financial Apps.
    • Disruptive Technology.
    • Regtech.
    • Future Trends in Fintech.

    Moreover, it could be recalled that the platform has suggested the awarding of verification badge to payment gateways in Nigeria. This is to avoid crypto scam in Nigeria and help in regulating the space for the end users of the crypto sevices. 

    Its a new development from the banking sector in the country. It will help the country meet the international standards in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.

    It’s no longer a news that Nigeria is working on putting up regulatory frameworks in the space. SEC Nigeria previously announced setting up 10 member committe to help draft a regulatory framework for the regulation of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in Nigeria. 

    Moreso, the apex bank in Nigeria has said its aware of the disruptive technologies including blockchain technology and Artificial intelligence. Also, the Chairman of Zenith Bank Nigeria Mr Ovia said blockchain is one of the disruptive technologies during the Zenith Bank Tech Fair 2019.
